M&M’s CEO and President Carey Dove has been at the helm of the Company since 1996. M&M was founded in 1972 by Russell “Muggs” Mullican, Carey’s father. Since assuming control of the Company, Carey has grown the Company her father started years ago into one of the most successful woman-owned businesses in the country.
Carey earned her degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland, College Park and has served in many roles for the Company, starting with her days as a Laborer in the field. Muggs’ and Carey’s philosophy – emphasizing the importance of cultivating and compensating a quality team – accounts for four decades of satisfaction shared among M&M’s clients and employees alike.
Dave joined M&M in 1979 as a Mechanical Helper and graduated from Steamfitters Local 602 Apprenticeship in 1986. During this time, Dave has served in just about every capacity in the Company.
Since 1994, Dave has served as M&M’s Executive Vice President assisting in the oversight of the day to day operations, while bidding and managing larger systemic projects for the Company and overseeing the Fire Protection Division.
Kyle currently serves as M&M’s Vice President, providing leadership and oversight in the procurement and execution of M&M’s projects.
Kyle worked at M&M each summer while attending high school at Glenelg. He then graduated from Salisbury University in 2013 earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Kyle is looking forward to continuing the legacy of M&M Welding and Fabricators, Inc.
Matt has served as M&M’s Vice President of Operations since June 2018 after 16 years in the DC-area mechanical contracting industry.
Matt’s core responsibilities include oversight of M&M’s Project Managers and Estimators, including pursuit of new work, execution of contracts with customers and vendors/subcontractors, project schedule oversight and project financial review. Matt is a 2002 graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Building Construction.
Get to Know Ryan:
Ryan joined the Company in 2015 as a Project Engineer after working part-time in the field for M&M during the summers of high school and college. He is currently one of M&M's Senior Project Managers.
Ryan currently oversees projects that involve equipment installations in the Baltimore area for various facilities such as hospitals and universities.
Ryan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2013.
Get to Know Eric:
Eric joined the Company in August of 2023 as a Senior Project Manager and brings with him 14 years of experience in construction management with a couple years of Plumbing and HVAC service sales.
Eric is responsible for executing various mid-sized projects, currently working with University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. He is also helping guide and coach some of the Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers within the company.
Get to Know Jessica:
Jessica joined the Company in 2023 as one of our Senior Project Managers after 20+ years of experience in a similar role with other local Mechanical Contractors.
She provides a variety of extensive mechanical expertise to multiple large ongoing projects such as Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (MWATA) and other government/healthcare facilities. She is also helping to guide and coach some of the Assistant Project Managers within the company.
Jessica graduated from Virginia Tech in 2002 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Get to Know Pat:
Pat joined the Company in 2014 as a Project Manager for M&M's Fire Protection Division after 28 years working in the DC/Baltimore area Fire Protection industry. Pat currently holds the same position.
Pat brings his extensive field and office experience to his position as project manager where he estimates and oversees execution of all fire protection work for the company.
Pat graduated from the Local 669 Apprenticeship Program as a licensed journeyman sprinkler fitter.
Get to Know Steve:
Steve joined the Company in 2007 as M&M's Safety Director and Quality Control Manager with 38 years of experience in the construction industry, working in power and chemical plants as well as manufacturing facilities. Steve is currently M&M's Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manager.
Steve oversees M&M's quality control programs in accordance with NBIC and ASME for alterations and repairs to boilers, pressure vessels and piping systems.
Get to Know Paul:
Paul joined the Company in 2019 as our Operations Manager and in 2022 he was promoted into his new role of Project Manager.
Paul is in charge of helping oversee various local educational and governement facilities mechanical installations and replacements.
Get to Know Nick:
Nick joined the Company full-time as an Assistant Project Manager in 2021, after working in the surveying industry.
Nick is responsible for assisting M&M’s Project Managers with the execution of various projects for the Company, including two large projects for the Washington Metropolitan Transportation Authority (WMATA) and the University of Maryland, College Park.
Get to Know Al:
Al joined the Company as a Boilermaker Foreman in 2020 before being promoted to Project Manager in 2021.
Al manages the oversight of ongoing boiler projects in addition to assisting with management of HVAC and industrial retrofit projects.
Al graduated from the Boilermaker Apprenticeship Program in 2004 as a licensed journeyman boilermaker.
Get to Know Jake:
Jake joined the Company as an Assistant Project Manager after graduating from the University of Cincinnati in early 2022 with a bachelor of business administration in operations management.
Jake assists M&M's project managers and field staff with the execution of various projects for the company in the DC/Baltimore area.
Get to Know Tommy:
Tommy joined the Company as an Assistant Project Manager in 2022 after graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of South Carolina in 2022.
Tommy assists M&M’s Project Management and Field staff with the execution of active projects. As well as operating our scheduling program for the field staff.
Get to Know Jesse:
Jesse has worked for M&M since 2000 when he started with the Company as a helper. He completed his apprenticeship with Steamfitters Local 602 and worked for years as a journeyman. Jesse currently serves as a Service Manager overseeing M&M’s Service Division.
He also oversees the execution of M&M’s insulation work. Jesse has extensive field and office experience in all aspects of M&M’s work and specializes in boiler installation, repair and service work.
Get to Know Josh:
Josh joined the Company in 2019 as a Helper, was promoted to Operations Coordinator in December 2022 and became an Assistant Project Manager in September 2024. He is due to graduate from the Local 602 Steamfitter Apprenticeship School in 2025. In his current role he is responsible for coordinating with our Project Managers and dispatching our tradesmen, fleet vehicles, material, and rental equipment to the appropriate work sites on a daily basis.
He is also responsible for oversight of M&M’s warehouse operations and trucking.
Get to Know Kenny:
Kenny joined the Company as our Warehouse Manager in 2017 after a lengthy career in a similar role with another local HVAC contractor.
Kenny’s role is to oversee all warehouse operations including receiving deliveries, managing material inventory and preparing tools/material/equipment for deliveries to our jobsites.
Get to Know Nelson:
Nelson started in the Company’s Fabrication Shop in 1996. He quickly became M&M’s Fabrication Shop Manager, a position he still holds today.
Nelson oversees the fabrication of components and ASME code projects in our shop such as specialty piping, pipe supports, catwalks, grating, boiler/pipe casings, breeching, etc.
Get to Know Travis:
Travis currently serves as a Superintendent for the Company, responsible for overseeing the tradesmen and execution of M&M’s projects.
He joined the Company as a welder’s helper in 1982, served his Steamfitters Local 602 apprenticeship and worked as an accredited welder for the Company for over 20 years.
Travis has handled some of M&M’s most challenging projects and specializes in large industrial power and central heating plants.
Get to Know Duane:
Duane currently serves as a Superintendent for the Company, responsible for overseeing tradesmen and subcontractors as well as overall field execution of M&M’s projects. He joined the Company in 2003 and quickly took on a leadership role as a project Foreman before transitioning to a Superintendent role in 2019.
Duane has a long history of delivering successful projects for M&M and currently oversees M&M’s summer school systemic HVAC renovation projects as well as various projects primarily in the Metro area’s Maryland suburbs.
Get to Know James:
James currently serves as a Superintendent for the Company, responsible for overseeing tradesmen and subcontractors as well as overall field execution of M&M’s projects.
James joined the Company in 2015 and quickly took on a leadership role on projects while still completing his apprenticeship.
James took on the role of Superintendent role in 2021 and currently oversees many of M&M’s industrial and steam distribution projects at facilities such as the Pentagon, University of Maryland, and other local campuses.
Get to Know Matt:
Matt joined the Company as a Pipefitter in 2017 and was promoted to Superintendent in 2022. Matt worked as a Journeyman Pipefitter for many years at another local mechanical contractor before joining M&M.
Matt proved himself as a Pipefitter and a Foreman at M&M before being promoted to Superintendent in 2022 where he oversees a number of projects, working closely with M&M Project Management staff.
Get to Know Dennis:
Dennis joined the Company as a Foreman in 2017 and was promoted to Superintendent in 2022. Dennis worked as a Journeyman Pipefitter for many years at another local mechanical contractor before joining M&M.
Immediately prior to his promotion to Superintendent, Dennis served as a Foreman on many of M&M’s large, complex projects and now uses his strong relationships with M&M Field crews to oversee execution of numerous projects.
Get to Know Paige:
Paige joined the Company in March 2024 as our Office Administrator.
In her current role she manages company vehicle insurances and registrations, requests and organized certificates of insurances, badging applications and submissions, company license renewals, new hire applications, and manages our scheduling system.
She is also responsible for the role of receptionist.
Get to Know Karen:
Karen joined the Company in 2018 as a Delivery Truck Driver and was promoted to Operations Coordinator in September 2024.
In her current role she is responsible for coordinating with our Project Managers and dispatching our tradesmen, fleet vehicles, material, and rental equipment to the appropriate work sites on a daily basis.
She is also responsible for oversight of M&M’s warehouse operations and trucking.
Get to Know Chris:
Chris joined M&M team as a Steamfitter in 2017 after working for another local mechanical contractor for 12 years. Chris then joined M&M’s office staff as an Estimator in 2019 and was promoted to his current role as M&M's Senior Estimator in 2023.
Chris is responsible for maintaining M&M’s bid list, performing take-offs, soliciting quotes from subcontractors and vendors and preparing estimates for submission to customers.
Get to Know Kennedi:
Kennedi joined M&M as an Administrative Assistnat in 2019, in 2022 she took on the role of Bid Coordinator/Accounting Assistant and in 2023 she was promoted into her current role as M&M's Bid Coordinator/Project Administrator.
Kennedi reviews RFPs and prepares bid documents for submission, handles project kick-off documents, customer/vendor prequalification information, assists proejct managers with submitting and organizing RFI/Submittals/project close-out documentation, and organizes employee safety certifications.
Kennedi also coordinates company safety meetings, oversees ordering and distribution of company merchandise, along with managing M&M's social media accounts and creating various forms of content.
Get to Know Mike:
Mike joined the Company in 2022 as an Assistant Safety Manager after serving for several years in a similar role at another local specialty contractor. In 2023 he was promoted to his current role as Safety Manager.
Mike holds numerous construction safety certifications and assists with employee training, creation of project safety submittals and on-site safety supervision on M&M projects.
Get to Know Zach Downes:
Zach join the Company in January 2024 as an Assistant Safety Manager.
In his role he is responsible for daily on-site safety supervision. He also assists with the new hire safety training process and any on-site safety training that needs to take place.
Get to Know Kim:
Kim currently serves as M&M’s Controller and oversees the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, among other accounting practices.
She earned a degree in Accounting from University of Maryland University College and joined the Company in 2003 after 17 years with another local specialty contractor.
Get to Know Tina:
Tina joined the Company as an Administrative Assistant in 2015 after having a similar role with another company. She moved into M&M's Accounting Department in 2019 and is now M&M's head clerk of Accounts Receivable.
Tina is in charge of all accounts receivable operations, as well as setting up new projects, overseeing various certified payroll programs and plays a small role in accounts payable.
Get to Know Jarred:
Jarred is a 2014 graduate of Albright College (BS in Accounting) and joined the Company in 2022 after serving a similar role for a couple of local construction firms.
In his current role, Jarred oversees the Company’s Finance Department including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Jarred also works with the Operations Department to conduct project financial reviews, analysis and forecasting and works with M&M’s Controller to help prepare the work in progress reports and monthly financials reports.
Get to Know Lisa:
Lisa joined the Company as an Administrative Assistant in 2022, became M&M's Office Administrator in 2023 and was promoted to her current role as Account Payable Specialist in early 2024.
Lisa currently handles receiving Account Payable invoices and statements for Vendors E - Z. Along with entering those specific documents into our system, requesting approval from project managers and management before getting these various vendors ready for payment as deemed necessary.
Get to Know Erica:
Erica joined the Company as an Accounting Administrator in March of 2024.
Erica currently handles receiving Account Payable invoices and statements for Vendors A-D. Along with entering those specific documents into our system, requesting approval from project managers and management before getting these various vendors ready for payment as deemed necessary.
She also assists with some Accounts Receivable tasks such as setting up jobs and distributing M&M Invoices and oversees company payroll.
